Chch in Lonely Planet's top 10 cities

The travel guide Lonely Planet is encouraging the world to come and get a piece of Christchurch.

It's just released its top 10 cities for 2012, putting Christchurch at number six and the only New Zealand city to feature.

Canterbury Tourism chief Tim Hunter says it's all down to projects which are inspiring people such as Gap Filler, the Art Gallery on the streets and pop-up restaurants and bars.

He says it's a great boost for tourism at a time when the city needs it most.
