Man who shot partner's father sent to jail

A Rotorua man who shot his partner's father in the face with a sawn-off shotgun has been sent to jail for 10 years.

Cody James Fane, 21 appeared in the High Court at Rotorua this morning after pleading guilty last month to one count each of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis for supply on February 21 last year.

Justice Paul Heath sentenced Fane to 10 years' jail and Fane must serve at least five years before he is eligible to apply for parole.
