Communities tear down sex offender's art

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Monday July 2 2012 7:55

Communities on the Kapiti Coast have torn down reminders of a local artist now serving time for child sex offences.

Brendan Nolan was last week sentenced for molesting two young girls in 1999 and 2001.

The ornate gates he designed and made for Paekakariki School have been removed since the verdict, and Kapiti Coast District Council has now dismantled his tui sculpture at Paraparaumu Beach.

Councillor Tony Lester says the decision to take the sculpture down was not a hard one to make

A painting by Nolan has also been removed from the local library.
