Tropical holiday turns to tragedy

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Monday September 17 2012 7:32

Friends and family of a Hamilton teacher are reeling in shock, after a tropical holiday turned to tragedy.

Justine Cameron died within days, after falling ill while on holiday in Samoa.

APNZ reports she was in the country celebrating her brother-in-law's 60th birthday when she came down with flu-like symptoms.

When her condition worsened, she was flown to Apia Hospital but doctors were unable to find the source of the infection.

Mrs Cameron suffered organ failure and cardiac arrest before dying last week.

A celebration of her life is being held this morning at Waikato University.
