PM's Pike River apology 'didn't feel genuine'

By: Tyler Adams | New Zealand News | Thursday December 13 2012 11:42

The Pike River family members are about to come out of a meeting with the Prime Minister in Greymouth.

John Key is there to apologise for the Government's regulatory failures in monitoring the mine.

Olivia Monk, daughter of Bernie Monk, came out early and said the feeling inside the meeting was anger.

She says the apology from John Key didn't feel genuine and was very brief before the talk turned to the recovery of the men's bodies.

Ms Monk says he continued to claim it was too dangerous to enter, despite international experts saying it could be done, which angered those in the room.
