One dead following jet boating incident

| New Zealand News | Monday October 15 2012 17:21

A police search has found a 65-year-old man dead following a jet boating incident at Lake Wanaka.

Murray Rivers was one of three onboard the boat when it hit a gravel bar on Sunday night, throwing the other two into the water.

Police say the boat was located at 3am this morning, but there was no sign of Mr Rivers.

A subsequent search found the man snagged below the surface by a willow tree about 150 metres from the boat.

Police say it appears the men weren't wearing life jackets.
