A rare ruling from the environment court has found noise levels from a Manawatu wind farm are in breach of its resource consent. The Palmerston North city council asked the court to look into Te Rere Hau wind farm after it received over 1,000 noise complaints about its turbines. The council's head of planning services Russel O'Leary says the court this week found in favour of the council. "Te Rere Hau wind farm has been operating in such a way that the noise effects at local, residential locations are considerably greater than most predicted in the application." Mr O'Leary says the council will now be thoroughly considering the ruling before deciding what action to take. Photo: NZ Herald |
