A Wellington man who acted as Sir Peter Jackson's bodyguard at The Hobbit premiere has had an assault charge thrown out of court. Thomas Gibson was granted a security clearance by the Ministry of Justice for the red carpet event, despite the assault incident, which is alleged to have occurred in July. However today police applied for the assault charge to be withdrawn. Outside court Mr Gibson's lawyer Andrew Davie was keeping tight lipped about where the charge originated from. "No, I'm not giving any detail at all, go and approach the police. They made the application today, the charge was withdrawn, thank-you very much." Photo: Thomas Gibson (Ed Swift) |
