Hunters recommended to follow simple safety rules

By: Nina Burton | New Zealand News | Wednesday October 24 2012 18:25

The Mountain Safety Council is recommending hunters follow some simple rules to keep safe.

It comes after two separate incidents over Labour Weekend.

Mountain Safety Council spokesman Chris Owens says unlike trampers and mountain bikers, hunters rarely follow tracks, so it's vital they follow the five simple rules.

He says they include planning the trip and telling someone about it, being prepared for the weather, knowing your limits and taking sufficient supplies.
