Rest home workers are calling for an investigation into the state of care at Oceania.
Strikes were planned for the 11th and 12th of April - but members of the Service and Food Workers Union and New Zealand Nurses Organisation have now put that on hold.
Spokesperson Alastair Duncan says they're concerned about the standard of care being provided to elderly residents in their absence.
"We've heard about untrained staff being on the floor, staff who are not familiar with the residents and about routines simply not being followed through, people not getting breakfast, people not being fed properly." Mr Duncan says the two unions will now gather evidence and approach the Health and Disability Commissioner asking for an investigation.
