Plane swerves to avoid collision

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Sunday April 15 2012 7:50

An investigation is underway after an Airbus jet had to take swift action over the Hauraki Gulf to avoid a collision with a light plane on a scenic trip.

Passengers on the Air New Zealand flight say they were terrified and had to cling to their seats, as the plane sharply altered course.

Airways New Zealand is investigating.

Air New Zealand says the A320 was on approach to Auckland when a cockpit indicator detected a smaller plane nearby.
