By: AAP | International News | Saturday September 8 2012 13:36

Authorities have found almost 100 suspected asylum seekers on board a boat near a lagoon at Cocos Keeling Islands.

The Australian Federal Police boarded the boat on the island on Friday.

Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare says there were 99 people on aboard.

The passengers will undergo basic health and security checks before they are transferred to Christmas Island.

The suspected asylum seeker boat is the fourth to enter Australian waters in the past week.
