Calls in Australia to fund customs vessel

The Federal opposition wants the Australian Government to fund a customs vessel, which will patrol Aussie waters for whale hunters.

It comes after a Japanese ship harpooned a whale in the Australian Antarctic Territory.

Shadow Environment Minister Greg Hunt says Labor needs to do more to protect the animals.

"There should be a customs vessel, there should be representations in Tokyo. Anything less is a complete failure."
