Apple and Samsung rule smartphone market

Apple and Samsung account for almost half of all mobile phones sold in the third quarter this year.

Samsung sold 55 million smartphones, while Apple sold almost 24 million smartphones, IT research company Gartner has reported.

Overall, smartphone sales have climbed 47 percent to 170 million units from the same quarter last year.
