Australian government 'gutless' - Assange's mother

By: Jacob Brown | International News | Friday August 17 2012 10:32

Scathing comments from the mother of Julian Assange.

The Wikileaks founder is seeking political asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, in an effort to escape sex assault allegations in Sweden.

British authorities are saying the won't allow him to get to the airport so he can leave the country.

The government in Australia, Assange's home country, is staying well clear of getting involved in the issue.

His mother Christine says that reaction is deplorable.

"We've got a gutless wonder of a government, and we've just got a cringing US sycophant for an attorney-general."
