'Smurf' sets milk production world record

| International News | Tuesday April 24 2012 14:42

A cow named Smurf from a farm in Canada has set a new world record for the most milk produced in a lifetime.

She's managed a whopping 216,891 kilos over 15 years, and she's still producing.

Her owner says that's the equivalent of more than one million glasses of milk.

Guinness World Records has confirmed the record, which was previously held by a cow in the US state of Michigan.

Smurf turns 16 in September and is expecting her eleventh calf in the coming weeks.

So far she's only had one female offspring to continue on the milk-making tradition.
