Record number of shoppers at Thanksgiving sales

A record 247 million shoppers visited US stores and websites over the four-day Thanksgiving weekend, spending more than $68 billion dollars.

That's up 9.2 per cent from a year ago.

The average holiday shopper spent $495 over the entire weekend, up from $465 dollars in 2011.
