Fake cigarette sparks armed raid on bus

By: Newstalk ZB staff | International News | Friday July 6 2012 11:21

A sign of heightened security concerns ahead of the London Olympics.

The Daily Mail reports that the M6 was shut down for four hours yesterday causing traffic chaos as armed police swooped on a bus in a mistaken terror threat.

Even the bomb squad was called in to the raid on the bus after fears a man had an explosive device in his bag.

However, it was found the man had been craftily smoking a fake cigarette into a bag.

With the Olympic Games starting later this month, police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
