The United Nations' top human rights official is pressing the US to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, strongly criticising the indefinite detention of inmates.
Navi Pillay, the UN high commissioner for human rights, says she is deeply disappointed that Washington has not closed the facility, despite a promise from the US President.
She says the continuing indefinite incarceration of many of the detainees is in clear breach of international law.
