Obama tells troops 'light on horizon'

By: AAP | International News | Wednesday May 2 2012 9:22

US President Barack Obama has warned troops of "heartbreak and pain" ahead in the Afghan war but said there was a "light on the horizon".

Obama, during a surprise trip to Afghanistan, told troops the fight was still tough, and that some would get killed or injured.

He added: "There is going to be heartbreak and pain and difficulty ahead, but there is a light on the horizon because of the sacrifices you have made."
