Thousands of people have fled their homes as firefighters struggle to control wildfires in Spain's Canary Islands.

More than five thousand people remain displaced from various villages on Monday afternoon local time.

On the Spanish mainland, near the southeastern city of Alicante, a forest fire killed two members of the emergency team fighting the blaze.
