Australia's High Court dismisses tobacco challenge

| International News | Wednesday August 15 2012 13:28

Australia's High Court has thrown out a challenge from tobacco companies to the federal government's plain packaging laws.

The court has ruled the Gillard Government's world-first laws are constitutionally valid.

The court won't be releasing the reasons for the judgement until later this year.

The Tobacco companies have been ordered to pay the Commonwealth's legal costs.
