If you're unlucky enough to cop a parking fine today, be thankful you're not in Melbourne.
Fines for double-parking will skyrocket to five times their current penalty, under plans unveiled by Victoria's State Government.
Parents dropping off and picking up children from schools could be hit hard if caught.
The current fine of $93 will increase to a whopping $541.
Shadow Transport Minister Luke Donellan says it's a blatant cash grab.
"Because no one's aware of it. If you're going to increase penalties like this to change behaviour, you've got to let people know what you're up to. There is no awareness campaign going on, there is no road safety campaign going on."
