Facebook looks to lift R13 status

By: Newstalk ZB staff | International News | Monday May 21 2012 6:52

Facebook looks set to lift its ban on those under 13 joining the social networking site.

The Daily Mail reports a senior employee of the company says the decision to lift the restriction could come about after admitting a large number of under 13s join up anyway.

The number of people with profiles - currently estimated at 900 million active users - would probably hit the one billion mark as a result.

That would make more than one in seven people in the world an active user of the site.
