Kiwis offered as UN observers in Syria

By: Katie Bradford-Crozier | International News | Tuesday April 24 2012 17:55

Two Kiwi Defence Force staff are being offered as observers to the United Nations mission in Syria.

The UN made an urgent request last week for New Zealand and other countries to consider helping out the immediate and temporary redeployment of Observers.

Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman says we have seven staff in Israel and Syria and he's decided to offer two of those to the UN efforts.

It'll be up to the UN to decide if and when they're deployed.
