Landmark case goes against Samsung

| International News | Monday August 27 2012 9:26

A handful of smartphone manufacturers, not just Samsung, could be in for a shake up.

In a landmark case, a US court's ruled Samsung must pay a billion dollars in damages after it was found to have infringed on some of Apple's patents.

Most of what was found centered on issues with the phone's operating software - Android.

Samsung, among other smart-phone makers, uses the popular Google Android software to power its phones.

Leading technology analyst Rob Enderle says the ruling could mean bad news for those manufacturers.

"Clearly Apple's going to be taking this win against all of the other Android licensees and asking them for money as well."
