Producer fired after misleading Trayvon segment

By: Newstalk ZB staff | International News | Friday April 13 2012 11:03

NBC News has fired a producer who was involved in the production of a misleading segment about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida.

The case of a white private security guard who shot dead the black youth has polarised America and led to rallies.

The New York Times reports that NBC ran a recording of George Zimmerman's conversation with police that was edited to make it sound as if his actions were racially motivated.

The producer responsible for taking his words grossly out of context has been sacked in the wake of an internal investigation, but NBC won't name them.
