Hey Dad star faces sexual assault charges

Hey Dad star Robert Hughes has been granted bail by a London court, after being arrested in a child sex investigation.

The charges relate to offences against five young girls in New South Wales in the 1980s.

Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec says police will be seeking extradition back to Australia.

He says Hughes will make another court appearance next month and faces a lengthy spell in prison if convicted.

"They (the charges) potentially could carry a penalty up to ten years. It's talking about sexual assaults against children, as they were then, under 16 years of age."
