Key rejects claims about Aus soldiers

By: Felix Marwick | International News | Monday April 23 2012 17:14

The Prime Minister has rejected the claim of a New Zealand journalist about Australian soldiers.

Jock Anderson has sparked a furore across the Tasman for referring to Australian soldiers as thieves in a radio interview about a book focusing on the ANZAC history.

John Key says he finds the comment offensive and doesn't think it's appropriate to have denigrated the Australians.

"The spirit of the ANZAC tradition is alive and well, that was a tradition forged on the battlegrounds in Gallipoli and to take away from their efforts, I personally find quite offensive."
