Ebola virus outbreak n Uganda alarms UN officials

By: Newstalk ZB staff | International News | Sunday August 5 2012 4:06

UN health officials hope they'll be able to save some of the 32 people being treated for the Ebola virus in Uganda.

There's no cure for the disease, the current outbreak has killed 16 people.

Meanwhile there's a big operation to prevent further infections.

CNN's David Mackenzie reports.

"So much about it is about containment, containment of the situation so the outbreak doesn't spread. There have been several suspected cases in other parts of Uganda today but again these are just suspected cases. Until they are confirmed by blood test, which takes 2-3 days, we don't know the level of this outbreak, but it is a race against time."
