Kiwi drinkers admit harm by own excesses

A third of Kiwi drinkers admit they've been harmed by their own excesses.

A survey on alcohol-related harm has found 33.8 percent of current drinkers have been adversely affected in the past year, with the most common problem being getting involved in a fight.

The survey's published in the New Zealand Medical Journal.

Other issues include alcohol causing problems with work, studies, relationships, physical health or finances.

Younger drinkers, and men, are worst affected but the survey authors say the prevalence of harm in women drinkers is "substantial".
