Prescriptions for ADHD rise

| Latest Health News | Monday May 21 2012 14:34

Prescription rates for adults and children with ADHD are on the up.

PHARMAC spokesman Simon England rejects reports that the numbers only relate to numbers of children getting the ADHD drugs.

He says in 2001, more than 60,000 adults and children nationally were prescribed drugs for ADHD but this has increased to over 107,000 in 2011.

The upward trend reflects a worrying growth in ADHD prescription rates.
