Woman's new ear grown in her arm

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Health News | Tuesday October 2 2012 5:32

Doctors have grown a new ear for a woman who had one removed because of cancer.

CNN's Elizabeth Cohen reports they've grown the ear in the woman's arm.

"They took cartilage from her ribs, they shaped it to an ear, the cartilage into an ear, they stuck it under her arm, it grew there and became covered with skin, and it spent four months, and then the skin grew over it and then it was placed on her head."

She says the woman is able to hear with the ear.
