Too much sitting down poor for your health

By: James Williams | Latest Health News | Tuesday May 8 2012 11:34

Sitting down for too long can be bad for your overall health.

Chiropractors here and in Australia are pushing the Sit Right campaign during May.

They point out that increased computer use at work and home means that over half of your day is spent sitting, which can have significant impact on your health.

Spokesman Dr Hayden Thomas says it makes you less skilled at basic functions like standing, running and jumping as well as resulting in muscle stiffness, pain in your lower back, neck and hip.

Research has shown that excessive sitting can be lethal.
