Doctors are concerned more Auckland youth will be at risk of sexually transmitted infections if they have to pay for previously free sexual health consultations. From next month, ProCare will only fund the service to high-needs patients, rather than to all those under 22 in central Auckland. Botany GP Dr Marcus Hawkins says the changes are unjustifiable. He says 14-year-olds are having sex, getting STDs and/or pregnant - and these young people need free help. Photo: Stockxchng |
