Pop lyricist Hal David dies aged 91

Pop lyricist Hal David has died.

His collaboration with composer Burt Bacharach yielded a string of hits in the '50s, '60s and '70s including 'What The World Needs Now is Love', 'Walk On By', 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head', 'Magic Moments', 'Alfie', and 'I'll Never Fall in love Again'.

They provided hits for Dionne Warwick, Cilla Black, Perry Como, and many more.

They went their separate ways in the 1970s, Hal David going on to produce more hits with other collaborators.

Hal David died in a Los Angeles hospital from complications from a stroke, at the age of 91.
