College cancels winter ball

By: Anna Cross | Latest Emergency News | Sunday February 26 2012 15:26

King's College in Auckland has cancelled its winter ball following the death of 17-year-old David Gaynor after last year's event.

The teenager suffered fatal head injuries after he fell from the Market Road overbridge after he had been ejected from the school ball for intoxication in June last year.

The school's e-newsletter says that after due consideration a decision has been made that it would not be appropriate to hold the ball after David's tragic death.

It says students leaders are considering suggestions for a different kind of celebratory event for senior students.
