Fire's destroyed a large building at Waahi Marae in Huntly. Fire Service shift supervisor Jaron Phillips says one 60 metre by 10 metre building was totally engulfed in flames when they arrived shortly after midnight. Reinforcements were called in from brigades around the Waikato - including water tankers from Huntly and Te Kauwhata, as there was little water on site. No one was injured but Jaron Phillips says the main building is very badly damaged and a second building at the marae is smoke logged. Photo: NZ Herald |
