Waikato police say their inquiries into a crash near Cambridge that left seven people injured, point to driver inattention. One of the cars was being driven by a mother with four young children - police say she failed to give way to oncoming traffic on State Highway One yesterday afternoon. The 34-year-old woman behind the wheel and a two-year-old child are critically ill. The crash was the second of its type in the same spot in a week, and police are working with roading authorities over issues that may have been contributing factors. Meanwhile police have named the man who died earlier this week after a train hit his car - he was 76-year-old Paeroa resident Turua Teremoana. They say that crash too, appears to be a case of driver inattention. Photo: NZ Herald |
