Two injured after Targa Rotorua rally smash

One person has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital after a crash in the Targa Rotorua rally.

Two people were trapped when they crashed in the race, and fire officers had to cut them free.

One of the occupants is critically injured, and the other has serious injuries.

Both have been taken to Waikato Hospital.

Motorsport New Zealand is investigating what happened.
