Climber falls to death in Fiordland

A climber has fallen and died on the Homer Saddle in Fiordland.

Police are waiting until family have been told until releasing the name of the climber.

The man slipped on a ridge on the Homer Saddle and fell around 800m.

His two climbing companions raised the alarm.

Bad weather's preventing rescue teams recovering his body.

They'll try again in the morning.
