Auckland Uni tops vice-chancellor pay rates

Auckland University's top dog when it comes to pay rates for university vice-chancellors.

A just released report on chief executive pay across the state sector shows the pay band for the top job at Auckland University is between 630 and $639,000 a year.

That's $170,000 more than the comparative pay packet at Canterbury University, $200,000 more than Otago, and $110,000 higher than the rate paid at Victoria University.

Auckland is the largest of the country's universities.
