Schools in the dark on super-school proposal

The Ministry of Education will not reveal why there has been delays in the announcement on the future of five Christchurch schools.

Aranui High School, Chisnallwood Intermediate, Avondale Primary School, Aranui Primary School and Wainoni School are all still waiting to hear if they will merge into the Ministry's proposed 'Super School.'

Initially told an announcement would be made on May 7, the tentative date for the announcement is now May 22.

A Ministry of Education spokesperson won't elaborate on the delay when questioned by Newstalk ZB other than to say the first date was also unconfirmed.

At least one of the schools has claimed they too have been left in the dark about why the final plan has been postponed.

The Ministry says the official date and time of the announcement will be confirmed by tomorrow.
