A promise is being made children with special educational needs won't lose access to the support they need. This despite the decision that two schools, one in Nelson, and another in Christchurch are likely to be closed after a review of the system. It will halve the number of residential special schools in the country. Education Minister Hekia Parata says children needing access to help will still get it. "All learners, both in the schools now but ones that have been waiting for places in the schools, will have access to a full and comprehensive wrap-around service and that will be the case."
