Link between teacher quality and salaries

| Latest Education News | Tuesday April 24 2012 6:50

A new study has found people who had an inspirational teacher at school are more likely to earn a high salary later in life.

Of the nearly 2000 people surveyed in a Commonwealth Bank study, nearly 80 percent of those earning more than $100,000 a year say they had a positive teacher who influenced their life.

The research also found that nearly all those surveyed admitted that you never forget a good teacher.

To recognise the crucial role teachers play in the lives of students, the Commonwealth Bank commissioned the research in conjunction with its inaugural Teaching Awards.

Fifteen teachers will be named in August as the winners and will receive $10,000 to invest in their financial literacy program and $2000 for themselves.
