Parata to listen to Christchurch schools facing closure

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Education News | Tuesday October 23 2012 16:31

Christchurch schools facing closure or merger might get more time to lobby the Government over their future.

Last week Education Minister Hekia Parata wouldn't say whether or not consultation with affected schools might be extended.

Now she says it's certainly possible.

"Over the next three weeks I will be spending the bulk of my time in Christchurch visiting schools, listening to parents and their school communities and if the present to me a case about including the extension of a timeline i will certainly consider it."
