The modern apprentice scheme is to be extended to support all apprentices, regardless of their age, and higher expectations are to be put on Industry Training Organisations. Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce says the roles of ITOs will be clarified, and higher performance expectations placed on them as part of plans to ensure there is high quality workplace-based training. It's part of a comprehensive industry training policy review being conducted by the Education Ministry. Mr Joyce expects the changes to increase the number of people completing industry training.
