Teachers want action on flawed pay system

| Latest Education News | Thursday October 18 2012 5:18

Teachers are annoyed their new pay system is still flawed.

Eight weeks after a new $26 million pay system was brought in, some teachers are still missing the pay round.

NZEI national secretary, Paul Goulter, says the systematic failings have been placing unnecessary stress on staff all around the country.

"I can tell you the number of phone calls that we're getting and the problems that are being reported through to us haven't slackened at all."

Mr says the ministry needs to admit they've made a mistake.

"We're saying to the Ministry, 'you need to urgently put more resourcing into your central support areas, your call centres, you need to put support out into the schools and you need to start compensating the schools'."
