One of New Zealand's largest private education providers will close at the end of the year.
Acting chief executive of the Practical Education Institute in New Plymouth Nick Zieltjes says a cut in government funding is behind the closure.
He says the institute also needed to meet course completion levels set by the Government, which rose mid last year.
He says the institution was working with the Government to ensure these levels were met, but the Government was not prepared to continue funding after this year.
Mr Zieltjes says all current students will be able to complete their studies.
