Possible reforms to Student Loan Scheme

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Education News | Tuesday April 17 2012 13:58

Labour believes there could soon be a law change around the operation of the Student Loan Scheme.

The Government signalled earlier this year reforms were likely, now the Ministry of Education has confirmed it's prepared at least eight Budget related reports on the matter

Labour Party Deputy Leader Grant Robertson says his enquiries show a law change around the Student Loan Scheme is pending.

"What we have heard from the Inland Revenue Department is that there is likely to be legislation around the Student Loan Scheme coming out of the budget, so that indicates there are significant changes both in terms of policy and in legislation."
